The existing the Healthy Eating in Schools (Nutritional Standards and Requirements) (Wales) Regulations 2013 remain in place and now only apply to secondary schools. The statutory guidance; ‘Healthy eating in maintained secondary schools’ has been updated to reflect this change.
Promotion of healthy eating and drinking in maintained schools – Guidance for local authorities and school governing bodies on the Healthy Eating in Schools (Wales) Measure 2009.
The purpose of this guidance is to clarify statutory duties under the Measure and support local authorities, governing bodies and their partners in fulfilling their statutory duties. To ensure healthy eating and drinking are consistently promoted across all maintained schools the guidance sets out roles and expectations, provides practical advice, and highlights good practice.
